Industrial Development Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs: The 5th RunSpace Space Innovation Competition Is Now Open for Registration | Open to All Majors, with a Top Prize of NT$350,000! Early-Bird Registrants Can Also Enter a Raffle for AirPods 4
The 5th RunSpace Space Innovation Challenge, organized by the Industrial Development Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs, is now officially open for registration!
The competition is open to participants from all academic disciplines and backgrounds. In previous years, many teams with interdisciplinary backgrounds—combining fields such as engineering, information management, business and management, design, and law—have joined the competition and proposed a wide range of innovative space applications and ideas.
The competition emphasizes “hands-on implementation × industry proposals,” helping students build project portfolios, gain practical experience, and expand their industry networks.
Two Competition Tracks
・Implementation Track|Focused on technological innovation or technical proficiency, encouraging teams to deepen their expertise and applications in space technology.
・Corporate Challenge|Take on a lunar micro-mission proposed by ispace, a Japanese lunar exploration company, and submit a payload concept design. No physical implementation is required.
Implementation Track
Submissions are welcome in a wide range of space-related fields, including ground equipment and services, satellite services, satellite manufacturing, space cybersecurity, remote sensing applications, ground systems, space sustainability, space agriculture, biotechnology, and more. Any proposal related to the space sector is welcome!
ispace Corporate Challenge
Proposed by ispace, a Japanese lunar exploration company, this challenge invites teams to submit payload application concepts for a lunar micro-mission using ispace’s ULTRA Lunar Lander. Teams only need to submit a conceptual design; no implementation is required.
Competition Prizes
The Implementation Track offers a top prize of NT$350,000, along with finalist awards of NT$6,000 for 15 selected teams.
The Corporate Challenge offers a top prize of NT$20,000.
Selected teams may also have the opportunity to visit ispace’s headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, present their proposals, and engage with more companies in Japan’s space supply chain.
Submission Requirements and Registration Deadline
The competition will be conducted entirely in English. For both the Implementation Track and Corporate Challenge, teams only need to submit a preliminary presentation of no more than 10 pages for the first-round review.
Registration deadline: From now until Tuesday, June 30, at 1:00 PM.
Early-Bird Registration Raffle
Teams that upload their initial draft by Monday, June 5, will have a chance to win Apple AirPods 4. One winner will be selected.
After uploading the initial draft, teams may continue to revise their submission until the registration deadline.
